Is my token or text sent to a server?
No. Decoding happens in your browser, so tokens and text never leave your device. Still, avoid sharing live production tokens with anyone.
Does the JWT decoder verify the signature?
No. It only decodes the header and payload, which anyone can read. Verifying a signature needs the secret or public key.
Is Base64 encryption?
No. Base64 is just a way to write data as text. Anyone can decode it, so never use it to protect secrets.
What is URL-safe Base64?
It replaces + and / with - and _ and drops the = padding, so the text works in URLs. JWTs use this form, and the decoder accepts both.
Does it handle emoji and non-English text?
Yes. Text is encoded and decoded as UTF-8, so accented letters, other scripts and emoji round-trip correctly.
