Why these three pages matter most
Add Stock Transaction, Add ETF/MF Transaction and FD are the foundation. Allocation, holdings, P&L, tax and the Position Planner all read from them, so an accurate entry here saves you from fixing numbers in five other places.
Stocks: lots, accounts and closing
Pick a trading account first (accounts are mandatory and follow the owner you have selected), then search for the stock and add a buy as a lot. Each lot records quantity, rate and date.
When you sell, you close trades and the sale is matched against your open lots on a first-in, first-out (FIFO) basis. That matters for realized profit and for tax.
- The page shows return, XIRR, realized gain or loss, dividend expectation and a holding-history chart.
- Indian holdings are in INR. Global holdings need historical FX rates, or you can override them manually.
- In the app, Indian stocks count as long-term after 365 days and global stocks after 730 days.
- Instruments with no market feed (for example SGBs and bonds) need their price updated manually.
Mutual funds and ETFs
The fund page works the same way: search, pick an account, add lots, close trades. Values use the latest NAV, and the total XIRR is a true multi-cash-flow calculation rather than an average of individual returns.
Indian mutual funds are classified as equity or debt. That classification decides which allocation page shows the fund and how it is taxed later, so check it for every fund you add.
Fixed deposits
For an FD you enter principal, rate, start and maturity dates and the payout schedule (monthly, quarterly, half-yearly, yearly or on maturity). The page shows interest for the current financial year, upcoming maturities and a weighted return.
Mark an FD as matured or close it prematurely when it ends, and its returns stay in your yearly totals.
